Terms
Terms of Use — CardScanR: TCG Card Scanner
These Terms are practical product terms for CardScanR. They are not a substitute for independent legal advice. The operator should review them before relying on them for Play distribution or commercial use.
1. Agreement
By downloading or using CardScanR: TCG Card Scanner, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Eligibility
You must have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms where you live. Do not use the app if you are prohibited from doing so under applicable law.
3. Account responsibilities
If you create an account (Google or email), you are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information. Notify support if you believe your account is compromised. Sign-out does not delete local collection data on the device.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse CardScanR, including by attempting to disrupt services, probe systems without authorisation, abuse APIs, upload unlawful content, or infringe others’ rights. Camera and gallery access must only be used for legitimate scanning and collection management.
5. Scanning and images
You may capture or select photographs of trading cards you own or are authorised to image. Camera frames are processed on-device for OCR and matching. Collection sync, when you opt in, uploads collection metadata and does not upload card photographs. You retain ownership of your photos. You grant Andrew Gore a limited licence to process images and derived text as needed to provide recognition, optional diagnostics you export, and related features. Do not submit images of people or sensitive scenes unrelated to card scanning.
6. Card recognition limitations
OCR and matching can fail or misidentify cards, especially for variants, languages, damaged cards, glare, or similar collector numbers. Always review uncertain matches before saving. CardScanR does not guarantee identification accuracy.
7. Market values — informational only (no financial advice)
Displayed values are informational market estimates assembled from available catalogue and market data sources. They are not formal appraisals, offers to buy or sell, investment recommendations, or guarantees of resale value, liquidity, or marketplace availability. CardScanR does not provide financial advice. Currency conversion may use approximate rates. Do not make purchase, sale, or financial decisions solely on in-app estimates.
8. Collection data and backups
Local inventory is stored on your device. Opt-in cloud sync may store supported collection metadata in the cloud. You are responsible for exporting or backing up data you need. Uninstalling the app or clearing storage can permanently remove local data.
9. Third-party services
The app relies on third parties such as Supabase (authentication and cloud data), Google (sign-in and on-device ML Kit), and catalogue/pricing providers when used. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. CardScanR may be unavailable when those services are unavailable.
10. Intellectual property and trademarks
CardScanR branding, software, and original content are owned by Andrew Gore or licensors. Pokémon and related marks are trademarks of their respective owners (including Nintendo, Creatures, and Game Freak as applicable). eBay is a trademark of eBay Inc. or affiliates. Catalogue providers retain their rights. CardScanR is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by those parties unless they state otherwise.
11. Subscriptions and advertising
The current app does not include Google Play Billing or advertising SDKs. If paid features or advertising are later introduced, additional terms will be disclosed in-product and on this site.
12. Suspension and termination
Access may be suspended or terminated for breach of these Terms, risk to users or systems, or legal requirements. You may stop using the app at any time and may request account deletion as described on the Delete Account and Data page.
13. Disclaimers
CardScanR is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, error-free recognition, or accurate market values.
14. Australian Consumer Law and limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantees, rights, or remedies under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or other laws that cannot be excluded. Where liability can be limited, and to the extent permitted by law, Andrew Gore’s liability for goods or services is limited to resupply or the cost of resupply. Subject to those non-excludable rights, Andrew Gore is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of collection data beyond remedies that cannot be excluded.
15. Changes
These Terms may be updated. Continued use after a published update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
